Welcome to a new decade!
For many of us, 2020 has always meant perfect vision. The New Year is always a time for resolutions and self-reflection, and over the last few weeks, I have had time to reflect on what this New Year means to me.
Like many of you, I place certain qualifiers before I start something new. I tend to say “I’ll think about it,” or give myself 5 minutes or 5 hours (or, let’s be honest, 5 days.) I may say that I’ll do “x,” then I will start “y.”
But I have found that things work best for me when I don’t wait for some magical start time – but dive right in.
As one of my wise surgical mentors once told me: “The key to finishing is starting.”
So for this New Year, my advice to you (and myself) is: Don’t wait. Start. Whether it’s a new book, a new job or a new look: Take that first step. You will not regret it. The time is now.
Here are the top three goals that I’m putting into immediate effect:
- We will be expanding our practice to either a larger space or to multiple locations.
- Things were very busy in the office, so I did not have time to do my EmSculpt before I went to Mexico. I will be starting this treatment this coming Thursday, so I can be ready when I speak at the Miami Cosmetic Surgery Meeting in February. I also will be CoolSculpting my flanks.
- I will be doing some training for new cutting edge products and services so stay tuned.
On a recent trip to Israel with my family, I went rappelling for the first time at the Ramon Crater. I had never done this before, and I was terrified. I had to lean back and walk down the wall of the crater. Starting was the hardest part; once I started moving I had no problems with the rest of the descent. Even though it would seem intuitive to grip the rope tightly, there is no way to actually make your way down without a relaxed grip on the rope. So start, relax, and enjoy the view.
