Got Allergies? 5 Ways To Conceal Them

As much as we’re happy to say goodbye to winter, many of us have been dreading the misery of allergy season. The best way to deal with allergies is to consult a specialist so that you may address the root of the problem and lessen your suffering. However, if you are doing everything possible to treat your allergies, there is no reason to feel AND look bad. Below are 5 ways to conceal the puffy, tired look allergies can give you:

1. Allergens Away. This may seem like a simple one, but many people try to deal with the symptoms before they address the problem. We’re not saying you should get rid of your cat, but it’s probably not a good idea to sleep with him cuddled to your face. The same goes for outside allergies. Sleep with your window shut and a humidifier on.

2. Hydrate! Antihistamine medications can dry out your skin. Drinking plenty of water, more than you typically would, can help hydrate your body, making you feel more awake and less like a zombie. Cold water, especially, can help reduce puffiness.

3. Tissues. Not just any tissues – treat your nose to moisturizing ones, which will keep your nose from turning red. Kleenex Cool Touch tissues include moisturizing ingredients like aloe.

4. Tea Bags. No, it’s not a myth. Putting cooled down tea bags on your eyes will help decrease the puffiness quickly.

5. Makeup. This can be a tricky one. On one hand, we want to pile on makeup to conceal the redness and puffiness. But on the other hand, we have to make sure we are not allergic to the makeup we are using! Although botanical makeup is typically safest to use, some people have allergic reactions to the pollen-producing plants that are used in the makeup. The best thing to do? Avoid introducing anything new into your system, especially if what you have been using works. Instead, concentrate on using what you’ve got to cover up the redness, not accentuate it. Stay away from darker shades like bronzers and dark eye shadows.
