It’s “pumpkin-everything” season! We have a great pumpkin latte scrub recipe for you Dr. Levine used during her trip to Costa Rica at the end of this article, but first…let’s discuss the benefits of using a body scrub.
Why should I apply a scrub?
Skin regenerates itself constantly with old skin cells shedding to reveal new, healthy skin. While this process is rather fast when we are young, it can slow down with aging. Applying a scrub every month or so is a great way to help your skin renew. After you apply the scrub, it is recommended to hydrate your skin with a moisturizer appropriate for your skin type.
What should I avoid doing?
Scrubs can feel fantastic and with so many different recipes to try at home, you may want to do one every day – however, don’t! Scrubs should only be used every month or even less depending on your skin type. If you are unsure of how your skin will react to a scrub, start out by using a mildly exfoliating one.
Additionally, consider home-made scrubs as you can control all of the ingredients which go in it. This will help you avoid allergic reactions and unwanted products on your skin.
